My piece “Windows” allude to the three- dimensional form of a window. Time is suspended as the window represents infinity, a world of infinite possibilities and an expanded view of echoed memories and yearnings. I used diffused color as timeless tranquility, a calm breath away from chaos expanding the imagination to new perceptions of the world. Based on the grid, these windows are sculpted with handmade abaca and linen paper which acts like membranes for light and color. The compositional severity of the grid is subdued due to the ethereal qualities of the paper and subtle use of color.
These weightless paper windows are fragile prisms to the outside world. Our gaze sees through the layers of demarcation permitting a poetic and contemplative passageway between the interior and exterior creating a space for self- reflectivity.
